Ehrm, I have the same issue as Benji from http://community.gaslampgames.com/threads/mods-does-not-appear-in-launcher.2518/ I have a special letter in my name, and this - as far as I understand - prevents mods from appearing in my launcher list. (doesn't surprise me by now; I should've set up my computer account differently. Live and learn.) Can I ask just how you would "create another user"? Creating another user-folder doesn't make the game use that instead, and another user on the computer would be highly impractical... Am I dense, or is there a simple solution...? ^^;
Unfortunately, this is the only solution at the moment It is indeed impractical. You can create a new user from control panel - user accounts (assuming you are on Win7, I don't remember the way for XP.) There ARE ways of changing your user folder name if you're willing to go through with it, but of course this is nothing we officially recommend to do, just letting you know of the possibility.
Renamed the account and rebooted my system, which made me really hopeful - opening my Documents folder made it claim that it was located in the "Christian" folder, rather than the "Christian Vedsø" (I have no problem giving out my name; sue me) folder. When browsing to the users-folder, however, it still showed the old name... so it's just registered as having my new account name, too, but keeping the old name as the base - mods still do not appear on the list. The issue is likely in the registry, as Kazeto said. How would one go about correcting such an error, though? And Kazeto, when you said "linked user folder," did you just mean renaming my user folder? I am so terribly afraid of touching that, seeing as just about all programs access some data via that route... ^^; I sound desperate because I am - I am itching to try out some of the mod-added skill trees! Help! D:
Yes, it's the folder that is linked by the registry keys to your user account. Thus, "linked user folder". Changing its name by itself does nothing because the registry keys still say that programs should look for your data in the "old" folder, instead of the renamed one. And, as Daynab said, instructions that ought to be helpful to you are in the link in his previous message (it's a hyperlinked text instead of a showcased link, so you'll have to find it, but it's definitely there).
Well, colour me impressed and cut me down with a herring. Having just had the time to do the above-mentioned renaming procedure, I think everything turned out perfect. Certain shortcuts had to be remade, of course, seeing as they no longer designate the correct path... but everything else seems to be working perfectly, including the mod list for Dungeons of Dredmor! Of course, this tiny renaming will also save me a lot of issues with other programs (TES: Oblivion, for instance), so all in all, this is amazing news for little geeky me. Thanks a lot, everyone, for the quick and insightful comments and tips; I'm off to explore the Dungeons of Dredmor again in a whole new light! EDIT: On another note, while I humbly have your attention; is wandcrafting supposed to be impossible to obtain via items? I've noticed that, while Armouring, Alchemy and Tinkering can be raised from 0 when items give a bonus to them, Wandcrafting does not. Is that intentional, or is it a bug? ^^; (currently playing a character with three different items giving a +1 to wandcrafting... which is still 0, apparently.)
That's because those items are giving ID 19, Wand Lore (a deprecated skill), and not ID 23, Wandcrafting.
The beta supposedly fixes it. I haven't seen any random wandlore drops, so it probably has. You'll have to come on the IRC to get it though.
