So say you've built a large city-state and someone invents a monochrome viewing device that's supposed to let viewers see distant plays and other forms of entertainment directly from their parlors and sitting areas (a clockwork television if you haven't caught on to the description). However an overlooked effect being the devices also emit a signal that irritates the already violent wildlife (and some irritable people) and causes them to rampage on your city and ruin it. Then fast forward to another game you would have started after this one. Would it be possible to build up an expedition unit and explore the ruins of your lost city years down the road in an attempt to reclaim materials or lost technology? Or possibly even clear out and resettle the area? Wondering around ruined, collapsed, plant covered buildings, skeletons of unfortunate citizens on the streets, wildlife and maybe some monsters roaming the derelict area. That kind of thing.
