I would like to see a better map. The one we have is basically good for getting a general idea of where shops and staircases are, but it's difficult to figure out the actual layout of the dungeon. Additionally, many features of the dungeon that would be handy to have on a map are not there. I'd like to see: Levers, and whether I've pulled them or not; doors, and whether they're closed or open; containers, and their status; statues and shrines, and what they are of; items I've left lying around, and what they are; and probably a bunch of other stuff I don't know I'm missing since I've only been to level 1. I'm using 1.0.6.
You already see shrines in 1.06 (and you will see quest monsters as well as quest items in 1.08). You don't see normal chests but you do see uberchests (and a different icon for open/closed) but I'm not sure what you mean with normal items and how would you figure out what they are?
We will see Quest monsters in 1.08? What's the fun in that! The fun is in trying to find that thing and thus respawning more monsters in the meantime. For the record: severely opposed to that. It doesn't make any sense that when she asks me to put Pfwooie, the undead mechanic on the mellow shrine to summon Hogdor the triple cursed and his Legion that I immediately know where it lies.
Just to clarify, you don't see monsters or items where you haven't explored. Only if they spawn in places you've cleared. But this is a much, much requested (and promised) changed since forever, because once you've cleared a whole floor and find that last statue of inconsequentia that asks you to go find that monster, sometimes you spend 20 minutes trying to find it, going around the places you've already done.
Yeah I don't really see a problem with that. After all, it's Inconsequential . Also, like I said, it's part of the game for me. It's not meant to be easy to find, is it? Maybe it was, but I like it better when it isn't.
Gosh, Godwin. First you want nonprofieciency penalties to stay, now you don't want unique mobs highlighted in explored areas...you must be one of those ROGUELIKE players. Sheesh!
