Twice now I've had a save game that's refused to load. Both of them have certain mods installed, and they're really far into the dungeon (floor 12-13). Recently, I've had a character that had been working fine, but when I tried to load his save, the game would appear to load...and then boot me back to the title screen. I opened up the mod launcher and noticed that all the mods I had been using were suddenly unchecked, so I rechecked them and tried to load up the game again, only to get the same result. How do I get this character working again? Should I post a list of the mods I've been using? All of them are only from the Steam Workshop.
Technically it can't be the mods as in the most recent versions, the mods are packaged with the savegame automatically. Even if you don't have them enabled it would work. If you upload your saves we'll take a look at them when we can.
I've had issues where a game will load if I start the game from the Basic Launcher but will not load if I switch to the Mod Launcher. This is with a number of mods active. My fix for this particular issue is to start the game with the Mod Launcher, quit, the start it with the Basic Launcher and my save will load.
My first suspect in this case is Steam. Is this a Steam install, and if so, are the mods obtained via Steam? If so there may be hope to manually fix your saves, if not I have no idea what could cause this.
Then why doesn't it work for me? I keep trying to upload the file and it says "There was a problem uploading your file".
There is a maximum file size. If you are zipping it with a billion mods loaded it likely exceeds the size. Try removing them and just list what mods you use if you can.
Okay, I tried it again, and now it says "the uploaded file is too large". Do I need to upload every file in the folder? Which files should I put into the zip?
Okay, here are the non-mod files for my save. I've got about 15 mods installed for it, though, and I don't remember the names of all of them off the top of my head.
Usually you can just do a printscreen from the mod directory and save an image of that to upload like this:
