Saving with items in Cubes/Kits

Hi,

I love the game so far but was very sad when I practically destroyed my game when saving with items stored in my Lutefisk cube and my alchemy and forging kits. The items were completely mixed up and most of them were lost. The strangest thing though was that the lutefisks in the cube were replaced by some aqua fortis and when I tried (out of interest) to put my stack of thirty lutefisks back in the cube (ontop of the aqua fortis) the number of the aqua fortis increased by the (indeed correct) number of lutefisks.

I think the aqua fortis thing is understandable (I'm developing games myself so I can imagine what happened) but the saving of stuff in cubes and kits is somehow completely messed up and I'd guess it's a common thing for players to store stuff in there.

Thanks in advance!

You don't actually lose items when you save with items in kits. The problem is the item locations aren't saved. When you next load your game the items can appear anywhere in any kit. Even if you don't have the kit in your inventory. This is why your Aqua Fortis appeared in your Lutefisk Cube.

One way to fix this is to just reload your save a few times until the items end up in a kit you have (you'll have to move around a bit before saving for the locations to change).

I was pretty sure I had more items before but I might be wrong. The lutefisk thing is still a bug but that's easy to handle, just don't put anything but lutefisks in the cube when loading. Thanks for the quick answer. The character died anyway :(

The missing items may have been in kits that you did not even have. E.g. even if you don't have an ingot press items can still randomly appear inside it when you load (which means you're out of luck until you find an ingot press).

This happened to me as well, but while I had all six kits plus the cube. All of it was gone on my next reload. I only lost some copper, a couple Diggle eggs and about 30 lutefisk, but it was annoying all the same.

Yeaah, you probably shouldn't store items in crafting tools.

The plan is to eventually just have the game dump all those items out when you close the respective window.

Ouch.
Can we get half or one new inventary if we level any crafting skill?

Otherwise everything will be a pain :v Tinkering is just utterly crazy since we need pretty much every piece of drop we find :\

Yeah... how are we supposed to carry ingots, components and reagents if you make the game drop them out of the tools? @_@ Please don't do that. I'm sure by now every player and their pet dog who like crafting are used to keep things in there. Why not save the position of the items too?

Besides, I think it only forks everything up if you have the lutefisk cube and/or something is in the "output" square of a tool?

I just loaded a game with an Anvil, Ingot Press, Alchemy kit and Porta-Still full of stuff and everything was there.
