Because I'm sure this really isn't supposed to happen. Stairway that was placed in one of those "ambush" walls that destroys itself, in case anyone was wondering.
Yep, I've seen that happen on the ambush room at least half a dozen times. Problem is the game randomly spawns stairs. They can appear on any 2-high wall that has a blank floor space in front of it. The Ambush room makes normal walls and zaps them away with the dig spell. One possible way to fix that would be for the devs to delete the "#" walls there and replace them with customblockers that look just like walls, then use a script to remove them instead of digging. An even cooler way would be if they added a nostairs="1" tag to rooms.xml functionality, but I'm not about to suggest that till the 1.0.10 beta is over (or at least open to Macs. *cough*). For the record, just switching them to "!" (destructible) walls won't do the job, I've got a hidden room with "!" walls in ID that I've seen get stairs a couple times.
It's not I big deal, I guess. I just wanted to make sure it was a known issue, so the devs could get around to fixing it whenever. Preferably after the next patch, as there's enough to do there already.
