Am I the only person who thinks thaumites are really cute? Maybe we should have a tree based on them. Description: Something about how you are a lonely lonely person, and you need lots of friends. But one day, you stumbled upon these tiny squeaky bugs in the dungeon, and now they follow you where ever you go.... Skills: 1) Lesser Thaumite Infestation: Some kind of reduced power thaumite spell. Also eats dungeon walls. 2) You smell funny: After rollicking around the dungeon with your squeaky friends, you are not the most pristine image of cleanliness. Hopefully this doesn't affect your social life... (some kind of passive resistance or damage, maybe toxic? and a bonus to health, minus to sneakiness) 3) Greater Thaumite Infestation: Regular power thaumite spell. Maybe it eats traps? Perhaps it reduces armor and resistances on enemies. You could put the dungeon wall thing here instead too. 4) My Best Friends: +armor absorption or block, maybe additional toxic stuff. 5) And now, we will rule the world!: gives a passive where you are immune to thaumites. Additionally, thaumites are ALWAYS present 1 square up/down/left/right of your character (this might be weird with Brax...maybe a cast spell instead of a passive?). 6) Fly, my pretties, fly!: Self explanatory-- you let loose a giant swarm of thaumites over 3x3 or 4x4 squares. If this isn't strong enough for late game, you could add a blindness or confusion effect to the swarm. Other ideas for abilities: a thaumite-in-a-jar throwing item that you can make? A store discount passive because Brax wants you to get out immediately? Special Thaumite Armor? I think I like not having Thaumite immunity until later. It should create some interesting situations. On the other hand, I'm not sure if Greater Thaumite should be swapped with And now, we will rule the world! for balancing. Having those thaumites at level 3 might be really ridiculous. Maybe you could have like, a set level at which they automatically upgrade. Another question: Mana or no mana? Okay, another way to do it could be that Skill 5 is gained second instead. And it only ever gives you Lesser Thaumites. BUT it reduces enemy stats. Other names: Thaumite Empath, Prince of Thaumites, Thaumitancer, Lord of Insects, Thaumite Whisperer (my personal favorite right now).
Hmmm. What if we had like, a system which countes stacking levels of Thaumite infestation? Maybe up to 5 levels, each one dealing more effects or damage than the last.. That could work in interesting ways with 4, 5, and 6.
