It'd give the skills (especially Smithing) permanent use, as every artifact would be a new opportunity to potentially replace your current equipment. (idea from icehawk78, who also thinks there should be some lossyness on it: [18:36] <icehawk78> I got a knobbly staff that had around +15 of various damage types on DL1 a couple games ago. Allowing that to get upgrade benefits of alchemy while maintaining all existing enchantments would have been overpowering, I think )
Simple: make the % chance of an enchant slot moving over = level of craft skill. At level 5 = 80%, 4 = 60%, 3 = 40%, 2 = 20%. Not possible @ level 1. More reason to invest into higher levels of crafting. This applies to both positive and negitive enchantments. EDIT: I'm a fool, only enable it @ like a 50-70% chance at level 5, all others doesn't happen.
