Further to my thread before, I'm still having trouble with my stats adding up right on 1.10. This time instead of gifting me with health regen, the game has decided to take away all my armor absorb. My gear alone should be worth 26 AA, but I currently only have 16, even with all kinds of buffs active. I'm currently in the middle of fighting the floor 10 zoo, and my AA's gone down 3 points since I started. I have Bezerker Rage and Master of Arms, so if the bug lies in buffs being converted into permanent negatives on save/reload, that might be where the problem is Savegame is attached. Edited to add: Sorry, I do realize there's another patch coming out, and I'm only playing vanilla 1.10 at the moment, so this might already be fixed. Didn't see anything specific about this issue in the beta thread though, so I thought it might be worth posting this save.
... and that character just got killed by an Arch DIggle, who was doing 10 damage a hit instead the 1 or 2 that my gear should have reduced it to. Ah well, you win some, you lose some to horrible, crippling bugs. Such is the way of roguelikes.
I wonder if the problem is due to a proc refreshing and the old proc somehow getting subtracted for each active instance of the proc when it ends.
This is on the known bugs list, and there are existing threads about it. Common themes seem to be: Master of Arms, Berserker, Dual Wield, and/or Shield Bearer all are possibly linked to causing Melee Power and Armor Absorbtion to go down over time. Admittedly, these are common skills for anyone who builds the sort of character who's going to have high armor absorb and melee power. Necro sometimes gives permanent stat boosts by the amount that necro drawback buffs would usually temporarily decrease them. Stat changes seem to be mirror / be the opposite of buffs the character has access to. "Inverse Integration". It's like it removes the buff twice when it should be removing it once. So I doubt it's dual wield that's causing the trouble, since it's the only skill on the list that doesn't grant armor (though it does give a melee power). No one's ever given a definitive account of it happening right before their eyes (unless I'm misinterpreting your statements above), so it may be related to saving with buffs active. I thought I saw it happen once because my stats dropped 3 armor in 2 rooms, but I didn't screen shot it so I couldn't be certain there wasn't another buff active when my armor was higher. More than likely, it's something not clearing correctly either during saving, or possibly on level-up or quest/zoo fulfillment. As though at some frequent, but not entirely reliable or predictable, moment causes the game to misbehave. You can sometimes get lucky and run a character very deep (floor 10 or later) without the problem happening. Other games, you suddenly realize that your character on floor 5 is missing half a dozen points of melee power. May be a Mac-specific bug. Every report I've seen either indicates OS X, or doesn't mention system.
Well the only thing I can say definitively is it's not Mac-specific, I'm running Linux 64-bit. The first time I noticed it happening was on level 10, when I saved in the middle of a battle, with a lot of my berzerk/master of arms procs active. I feel like that was pretty much the first time I really did save with all that stuff going, since normally I'd wait till I was done with the current set of monsters to save. I also feel like that was the first time I lost any stats, as prior to that I was barely taking any damage from monsters. even on floor 10. Then again I can't guarantee it, I might have been leaking AA slowly for a while and just not noticed.
Mac and linux have reasonably similar structures though, from my understanding - so you can hardly say it's not 'nux kernel specific
