I stepped into one of those swirly portals that usually takes the player into a super deadly place with a really really scary monster, and I wound up here... With no way out. I tried doing stuff with/to the lamp object, I tried walking into the walls, and I tried crying like a little girl. Is this intentional? There was a really amazing weapon in here, too =( The zombie is there because I killed an AI that was in the room, and used a bony wand on the corpse. In case there was any confusion or something. Also, a different problem I noticed... In one of my games, I could not use lutefisk on a lutefisk statue. I tried a few times before giving up, moving on, and dying a miserable, pathetic death. Thanks for your time. I really love the game, and I cannot wait to die again! Edit: Oh, I figured it was worth mentioning that I'm not using any mods. I don't even have any in the mod folder.
Unfortunately, it was very early in the game, and I had nothing I could use to break the walls. I did have a random teleportation spell, which I tried using a few times to no avail. Even more unfortunate than that, I went and deleted the character. Decided to consider this a "death by lack of oxygen" situation. I don't mind starting over in games such as these. I mostly just wanted this problem to be known, as well as to find out if it's even a problem or not! I mean, perhaps tiny rooms of face-palmed re-rolling were intentionally designed? I'unno!
That is why you should always carry a few basic bombs with you. It's easy to get a hold of a few, and they do wonders in situations like that one.
So, does that mean that this whole situation was intentional? It wasn't some kind of glitch in the system? If so, I'll make sure to always have a method of destroying walls available to me before I venture into the scary portals of doom =o
You were just unlucky to land in one of the very few rooms that had the doors beneath a destroyable wall. It's not an issue normally, since if that happened you could just get back to the previous level and try a different staircase. So yeah, it's just really bad luck. But carrying a few bombs is always good, since there are destroyable walls even on normal floors.
Oh well. The staff I found in there was REALLY good, and that was my weapon of choice too =I NEXT TIME! *new game start*
Perhaps this isn't a bug in the normal sense but I think it highlights the need to grant the game the ability to modify rooms more to ensure that they're solvable, like in so many other roguelikes.
That's the hidden part of a room that normally spawns on the moonbase floor. Had you blown up the wall at the southern tip, it would have opened up into a room with a goo pool and a door to another part of the dungeon. I would recommend against going into a mysterious portal unless you have some sort of area attack, _and_ some sort of knockback or teleport. Even in the main game without mods, there are quite a few possible rooms that you could encounter which need either a way to blast through fragile walls, or a way to get past blocking objects. If you can't deal with such obstacles, then every mysterious portal has a small chance of stranding you forever.
