Windows Vista/7 64-bit Transforming to werediggle closes inventory and character screen

I usually play with my character and inventory screens open so I can glance at them and keep track of how full my inventory gets, but when I tried playing with the werediggle skills I noticed that both windows were closed everytime I transformed. It's not a huge problem, but still a bit annoying.

  2. I think this is true when you polymorph in general. I don't know why the devs have it this way. The first time I ever poly'd, I turned into a bat and the inventory closed. I thought "cool" this is going to suck, I can't access my inventory. But, I was wrong, it didn't suck and I could access my inventory. ;)

This is intended, so that you can't use items.

Except you can totally open your inventory while in werediggle form, and use or equip items as you see fit. It doesn't stop you, it just delays you for a couple seconds as you hit "i" (and sometimes "c") to open it.

Then when you transform again back to human, it closes your inventory all over again. You get the same effect regardless of whether turning to a diggle or a human. Are we supposed to infer that we shouldn't open our inventory in one of those forms but it's okay to do so in the other? That's definitely not the impression I ever got - I assumed it was a bug like the game not remembering my difficulty preferences from character to character.

I suspect it's not working the way the devs think it is, or at least not how they intend it to be.

    Agreed.

Oh. Hmm. I'll look into it.

  6. Yeah, what rbb (and I thought I less eloquently had) said.

Never noticed this before. If they really meant it to prohibit item use, shouldn't they block out your toolbelt as well as your quick spells?

Talked to Nicholas about it. My guess was right - it was originally intended to close everything so you couldn't use items, but it wasn't finished. We'll see about removing it, perhaps.

I'd trade not being able to use items for getting non-polymorph skill stat bonuses any day.
