Since August 30th I've been unable to save new characters and load my old ones. Every time I try Windows claims there's a problem with the game not responding and shuts it down. I've tried verifying the game cache using Steam and tried reinstalling it but I still can't do anything on the game.

Any suggestions or will I have to wait for the next patch?

I forgot to mention that I also tried deleting a duplicate save. It crashed, and when I reloaded the game, the save file I had deleted was still there.

Send us both saves to contact@gaslampgames.com, please.

I am not sure how to do that. What do I need to do?

search for a "dredmor" folder with .sav files in it and attach them to an email? ·_· c:\documents and settings\user\my files\gaslamp games\Dungeons of Dredmor\ should have all the .sav (savegames) in it. Maybe in your PC it's named differently but, you know, something like that.

Thanks for the help. After checking that, and running a search on my computer, I still can't find the files, but found 2 other save files of characters I tried making after the problems started. They were in the location Psiweapon mentions. I also searched for all .sav files and found the two saves for Dredmor along with other saves, but not the characters that the game lets me load.

    Wtf???

Under which OS are you running the game?

I heard Steam likes to do !!FUN!! stuff with game data and something called shadow folders, but I think that doesn't apply to XP (what I've got) and I'll be darned if I know what it is.

It *might* be related to that, or not.

I'm running Windows 7, and the folder you mentioned was there, just the save files I'm looking for weren't.

We just found a bug in the save game system that was causing incompatibility between version 1.0.3 games and Aug 30 beta save games. That's been corrected in the next beta patch to go live tomorrow.

I didn't mention this because I gave up on the game, for a bit, but the new patch didn't fix it. Instead, it occurred to me that the problem may be with the path to the folder the game was supposed to save in. I deleted that folder and now the game seems to work fine. If anyone else is having this problem, this MAY work, but you may want to backup your files just to be safe. Also, one of my problems was characters that were deleted showing up in game. In order to find the file you'll have to search for hidden files on your comp.
