Use of "On Fire"

This is some weird hybrid between suggestion and bug report, but mostly the former.

So, this debuff was made to replace the old burning effect. But what I've noticed is that nothing really makes use of it, even though it's a vanilla effect and would make sense to occur with almost all fire-based spells, including promethean magic. As far as I can tell, only Ra effects make use of On Fire.

What's more, burn="1" would seemingly now trigger this debuff, but it doesn't. It seems like it's deprecated and does nothing, now.

So, I have two suggestions. Make all (or almost all) fire-related effects (Promethean Magic, Ignition Bolt and thus Hand of Belimawr, and so on) use On Fire.

Also, make burn="1" invoke this spell, without needing to trigger On Fire.

Really, doing the latter would mean we could accomplish the former by adding in burn="1" where necessary (and it's not in many spells either).

Why bother doing this? Well, I think "On Fire" is a cool debuff and it would do a lot for consistency for all fire-related spells to cause this, including mines and monster spells. Not that Promethean Magic would ever need a buff. I don't think it'd result in much unwanted power, though.

I've added several spell effects to my mod that make use of the "On Fire" effect. I'm sure that David will eventually adapt all of the vanilla content to use the "On Fire" effect eventually.

Yes, I too have used On Fire as an effect in my mod. That's primarily what led me to making this suggestion.

  4. Yeah I have also.

I've also noticed the Tome of Burning seems to still at least trigger the old burning graphics?
