When I entered a monster zoo on level 5 I got complete vision in the entire room, through walls and outside my normal vision range. The vision dissappeared after leaving the room and didnt come back I also had this bug if it of any relevance: http://community.gaslampgames.com/threads/seemingly-random-crashes.2540/
Oh - then I have another bug to report apparantly seeing as that was the first time I could actually see the entire zoo when opening the door and not just my line of sight
I am fairly certain that you are supposed to be able to see the entire zoo after opening the doors to the zoo, along with any other zoos on the same floor, I am not sure if you are supposed to lose that vision however..
It's more a game wonkiness than a simple bug, but you are supposed to uncover the full zoo on your minimap, maybe not necessarily see all the room in game, though. As for the random crashing, hopefully that's all fixed in the coming patch. We haven't run in it so far (at least not the previously random crashing).
Intended behavior is: If you have line of sight to any of the actual spaces of the zoo, then you're able to see the rest of the zoo. My guess would be that you've probably had the normal behavior all along and just not noticed, since it takes a slightly uncommon coincidence of situations to make the vision boost really obvious. I'll explain. Zoos are actually slightly smaller than they appear to be. If you closely examine the minimap, you'll see that only the cyan shape sometimes is a little different than the shape of the zoo would seem to be when looking at the playing field. Just behind every door are 3 tiles of floor that looks like they should be part of the zoo, but aren't. Those 3 spaces are dark grey, like the normal rooms and halls on the minimap. Depending on how the doors are laid out, this can cause indentations and irregularities in the typical zoo shapes. Only the part that is cyan on the minimap officially counts as zoo, and only those spaces are revealed by the boosted sight. The upshot of this is that on smaller zoos, you have to be pretty close to the zoo itself to see past the doorway border and trigger the bonus sight. It's easy to not even notice the boost because the extra vision is maybe a row or two, depending on whether or not there's a door on the opposite side. Also, any spaces near doors at the opposite end won't be revealed, sometimes giving the impression that the zoo itself wasn't entirely revealed. The bonus vision is only really obvious and reliable when dealing with the larger zoo size, and then only really if you approach from the left or right door, not one of the top or bottom doors. Even in that circumstance, if you step away so none of the actual zoo spaces are within your LOS and visual range, the revealed status of the zoo turns off until you get back to where you're close enough for you normal unboosted vision to reach into the zoo again (and past the three spaces at the near edge of the zoo that totally look like they should be part of the zoo). I hope that was a good enough explanation of what's going on. It's late and I'm a little tired, so I might not be phrasing things in the clearest possible manner.
What Bergstrom is saying: "I know far more than any other mortal about Dredmor room functioning. I say you are not experiencing a bug. Rejoice and send me cookies!"
