Simply put: Two handed weapon tree which revolves around using single weapon (with two hands) Something to compete with the dualwielding which seems to be must if you want to do good melee damage. Would it be possible to create scaling passive to give large bonus damage with requirements of one weapon + empty hand? Double melee power might be too much. Skillset suggestion: 1. Double grip. Gives the damage buff 2. Cleave proc 3. Some Burliness and block etc. stat dump 4. Crit buff + Bonus damage on crits 5. Stacking damage buff when hitting things 6. Real big single target hit
Unfortunately, currently there's no way to either block a hand from being equipped or give bonuses for not equipping an offhand. So you can do what you want, but you'd have to pretend.
Hows this workaround? Hand held item (orb type) which gives the scaling double grip damage bonus. Summoned by the skill 1st lvl. Call it grip tape or something.
This is not a workaround. It simply won't work. The only known workaround is to make the skill tier give you a permanent dummy buff and change all "two-handed weapons" so that they have effects that trigger based on the presence of said buff and all "one-handed weapons" and shields (and "two-handed weapons" as well) so that they put another dummy buff on you that lasts only 1 turn that makes it impossible for the aforementioned trigger to do anything if you have 2 copies of the latter buff. But considering that you don't have much experience with modding this game, it won't be easy (still, if you want to try, I wish you good luck).
Could you just make the "Grip tape" offhand item give the dummy buff when equipped and make the other skills work with the said buff?
And how exactly do you want to achieve that? If you made it work like that, you'd make it possible for it to activate with everything (even one-handed weapons or shields). You are trying to circumvent something that is hard-coded. Some pain is necessary, unless you adapt your idea.
The whole point is to make it activate with one handed weapons = all weapons since you are sacrificing 2nd hand for the grip tape dummy item -> ie. you swinging the weapon with both hands. Only problem there would be if you equip shield + grip tape. But then you would be effectively fighting unarmed without the unarmed weapon skill working?
If you make your grip tape into some kind of some kind of shield? No, it won't be a problem, as you'll be able to get bonuses from Unarmed when you use grip tape with a shield. Though you'll still have to make a reliable buff web for weapons, and add the trigger to all already-existing weapons.
