What I'm working on (aka a call for help)

Well, I've gotten really interested in modding, but I'm a bit too much of an idea guy, so I've got half-finished projects all over the place. Some just need some more time and attention, others need to be fleshed out a bit with ideas(or the choice of what ideas to use trimmed down!), and of course I need a lot of art, which I haven't even started on for anything.

Skill mods in various stages of coding, planning, or disrepair:

Circus Freak - mostly done code-wise, not entirely happy with the kludgery of the capstone, needs art.

Mutant - almost done code-wise, needs art.

Technomancy - disrepair, not nearly done, somewhat one-upped by the many other mad scientist mods(though it differs in being a wizard skill).

Galactic Hitchhiker - first level done, ideas for most of the rest, need to get off my ass...

Pythonology - some levels done, need to choose ideas to use for the rest, and code them.

    Dark Knight - idea stage

    Gladiator - idea stage

Battle Librarian - idea theft stage (IE: if I don't hear more about this, I'm going to consider it fair game).

EDIT: Almost forgot, there's one more idea stage skill, but I'll let it be a secret for now!

    Other:

A large item mod that adds tons of more books to the game. About halfway done with the itemDB, not yet started on spellDB. In desperate need of art! (50 books or more!) The purpose is both diversity in books(especially books with triggers other than targetHitBuff), and making them more common loot by sheer weight of numbers.

Anyone feel like helping with some art, or can at least point the way to a good freeware art program that can do transparent backgrounds? (I used to be a pixel artist in the 90s, I've got Ultimate Paint because I'm comfortable with it, about the most similar to my old workhorse Deluxe Paint IV that I could find).

GIMP is what I use when my wife won't let me use our only copy of CS5. It's a freeware/GNU program.

I tried it a while back(years ago, when I ended up picking ultimate paint over it), thought it was pretty clunky, but maybe I can just use it for the transparent background feature then.

  4. Don't know whether it's good for pixel art, but Sumopaint is web-based, bears many similarities to Photoshop, and is automatically cloud-ish.

I know Fax uses mtPaint, there's also paint.net which is a decent lightweight tool. Personally I've used GraphicsGale which was designed for pixel art in mind. It's shareware but I don't remember what features are limited, it's been a while.

    Hope this helps.
