Map generation may as well get redone a bit. If the whole game is generated in one go information about rooms that are not needed can be disposed of. Also, although I wasn't around for when dungeons were generated from noise rather than simply being amalgations of rooms in rooms.xml, these two approaches are not in any way mutually exclusive and some more randomness that modifies the structures or rooms might be quite neat. In particular, if the whole map gets saved then map generation itself can be tweaked and made moddable without breaking or making inconsistent any saves, and new features can be added like a particularly devious trap that drops you right in the middle of the monster zoo below, or something.
