That was our reaction a month or two ago when we discovered it. Of course nobody would try disabling it while testing it.
Unless that's been fixed, I don't think you can actually disable RotDG once installed...
They're heavily altered. David reworked and rewrote many skills and teamed up with modders. It all has new art as well.

Can't reproduce here. Sure you weren't hitting vegetables or constructs? you can't regain health from those.
