Yep, known bug; it's actually the first slot of the next row, so it (unfortunately? :p) doesn't give you any more inventory slots.

If it happens again, try deleting them from the outside then running DoD without Steam open and let us know if they reappear.

I would try reinstalling the game, or, assuming you're on Steam, running the "Verify file integrity" option in the game's properties.
