There is no lighting here, but now that you are all in the entrance you all see a set of stairs leading down, to an area of shadowy illumination. As you all go down the stairs, you see that this floor of the dungeon has masonry walls, smooth stone floors, and the air is cool, but not cold. There is shadowy illumination, with some kind of phosphorescent fungus about every 20 ft. Coming down off the stairs, you are in a 15'x15' room. A circle of tall stones stands in the north-east corner of the room, A simple fireplace sits against the east wall. You came in the northeast, through a gate set into the east wall. as soon as you are all inside, the gate slams shut. There is an open archway set in the west wall, on the north side, and a door in the same corner as the gate, on the north wall. From this point forward, marching order is important, so I need you to discuss in or out of game who is the point man. To make travel in the dungeon easier, the point man determines the path for all characters, unless you tell me you are breaking away to do something else. Point man: Please be sure everyone is done in the current area before you decide to move on.
"Traps? You think this place might be trapped? Oooh...uh, OK, you then." Berz looks nervous. "I'm not fond of things that fail to stop killing me when properly axed."
"Then I shall lead the way!" Hort steps in front of the group. "Follow along now children, let's get this thing started."
"OK. Darky, you want 2nd place and I'll take up the rear just in case we get ambushed? Or are you more comfortable with your ass exposed?"
Swig carefully tucks his crossbow under one arm, using the other to pull off his pack. Rifling through it one-handed, he produces a piece of paper and some colored pencils. A little bit of work, and he's made a rough map of the room. Holding it up for the others to see, he says, "How's this look?"
sorry, the stones and fireplace are on the west. My bad. Also, glad someone is doing the mapping. So, the marching order is: Hort, Swig, Rantic, and Berz? If that is the case, we can proceed. You all can look around, search, do whatever you like.
Swig realizes he had his eyes on backwards. Scrubbing an eraser across the map, he makes a slight edit. "There, that's better. One of you check out the fireplace." He advances on the group of stones, intent on examining them despite their objections.
Fortunately, these stones don't object at all. However, as you approach, your keen dwarven stone senses(Rocksenses tingling!) tell you there is definitely something odd about the stones. A quick search (d20+4=24!)reveals a button on one!
"Found somethin'!" Swig says proudly, drawing a rough circle around the button with one of his pencils. "Whatcha got?" [Giving the others a chance to poke around before I mash the candy-like button.]
"After inspecting this rather fine fireplace, I have discovered that it is indeed, a fireplace" Hort backs away from the fireplace.
Dragore comes over to look at the stones and examines them. Do they have a distinct shape? How many are there? [Search or spot roll or so?]
About 3' tall, some taller, some shorter, but not by more then a few inches. There are ten in total. They are faintly conical, with the widest part at the bottom. Flat tops. All kinds of carvings on them, nothing magical. A now circled button set into the carving on one.
Berz listens (+8) at the door in the northeast corner while the others poke around at the other stuff. "Shh! Jus' fer a sec!"
