    Well, I don't think you're being a jerk. :)
I'll give the editing a try, and then I will look to see if it works in an already on floor 8 game.
Edit: YEAH! IT works. Now they do not have a power level of over 9000. :)

I have a question and I'm not sure if it's a bug or not. I did try a search and didn't find anything else about it.

Shouldn't the Staff Fighting skill be a wizard skill? I mean the staffs have stat points that tend to help the mage. Plus most myths/stories have staffs as the melee weapon for the mages. Just seems that it fits better into the mage skill set than the warrior.

I don't really see mages using the Spear of Destiny, er, The Spear of Holy Sacrafice though. And that's a staff class weapon.
    They also don't use spears/tridents/etc.
The Dragon Fang spear is another example. the Staff Fighting tree is a combo tree. Mage and Fighters both benefit from it.
Actually, it would help a vampirism build relying on melee.

If it involves hitting people in the face, it's considered Warrior. This is more because Warrior levels give you the stats most important to melee combat and Wizard levels.... do not. Thus, Staves lets you get enough Warrior levels to be decent in combat while not really affecting your casting power a whole lot.

Oh, hey, I noticed something. A wall that I normally could break down with my weapon based attack, or Psychic shove, or whatever, isn't reacting to iron bombs or grenades at all. I used them against breakable walls before, and they worked. I don't think it was only concussion.

It's been my experience that any (not-a-pure-mage) build is doomed to failure if you rely solely on food to survive. You need some form of healing that works when you're in trouble and not just in-between battles.

The same can be said of Booze and (not-a-pure-melee) builds: if you're relying on Booze to "refuel" and not Blood Magic, Ley Walker, etc, you're pretty much Doing It Wrong.

Regardless, them stealing entire stacks, from any location, regardless of size, seems absurdly overpowered.

To be fair, it seems to be random, the amount they steal. Sometimes it's 3 of an item ,sometimes it's 5. Regardless, I fixed my problem.
Also, anyone have any idea why walls can't be broken anymore?
    I thought that was fixed.

I am having the wall breaking problem intermittently as well. I need to do some testing, but I think it may be when I do a save or load, not sure which or both, it makes the walls unbreakable.

EDIT: I did some testing and saving the game alone still allowed walls to be broken. Next, I saved and quit to main menu and then loaded the save game. The walls I ran up against were unbreakable and I tried two different walls in the same room to be sure. Here is a save in the room that has the unbreakable walls.

SECOND EDIT: The game is still saving files that for some reason crashes when I try to load them. It's not every save game this time, just some of them. The character Mercy below is one that crashes when I try to load it. The funny thing is that I tried to load the automatic save for that character and it loaded fine. Or it did before it overwrote it again.

As far as mage ability with staffs, what might be done is to have some staffs have a mage subclass or something and have a specialty for staffs that is for mages. Probably it couldn't be done now, but it might be something for the future.

I was also thinking that daggers and knives would be a good subclass for rogues. Make swords not use a special skill for rogues but the knives and daggers they get a bonus in. Maybe even mages could have a dagger/knives skill as well.

Just my thoughts on possible future directions.

Grim, I think all of the Steam achievements are broken for the time being, and will be until the official patch goes live to Steam. I haven't been getting any, and I know I've completed a few skill trees since testing began.

I've gotten several Steam achievements lately, though I am not using the latest RC (can you even run the RC through Steam? I thought it was a stand-alone.) A couple do not seem to work though, like playing for both teams and getting killed by a Muscle Diggle (in RotDG content).

Also, I can completely agree with Marak on the food/booze conversation. While I, too, feel it's incredibly overpowered to have the diggle steal an entire stack of stuff, I also know that food/booze is virtually useless in a battle (except, perhaps a zoo where long term regen is more important) for the primary stat of your class (food for melee/throwers, booze for mages). Typically speaking, by DL 8 or so, I never again touch either category, unless I'm playing random and don't have a spell to do the task for me.

I got the Dead Dread achievement. I renamed the original exe to something else, and renamed the Steam build to the proper DoD name, so that I could see if achievements worked...but I got the achievement testing RC7 (or was it 5...these days are just blurring together anymore), during which I also tried to get Playing for Both Teams, to no avail. If you're trying for achievements, you'll need to do the same with the renaming of the .exe files.

<effect type="bleed" /> (as seen in Fleshbore and some other places) doesn't do anything.

Sorry to say it, but I think I have found another bug. I started up a new instance of DoD v1-0-10 RC8 (the Steam exe) and found one of the small rooms that has a red trigger square that always creates 4 monsters for me to fight off when I step into the square. I stepped into the square and nothing happened. I have noticed with v1-0-9B that sometimes the blue square wouldn't trigger the mana fill but I think this is the first time the red square has failed me. I have included a screenshot and my current save.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I loaded a saved game in a new instance of DoD.

  16. It's because you're at full health at moment. That one only triggers when you're hurt :)

  17. It's kind of like the blue square. I believe it heals you too, but at the expense of clouding your vision, and making you fight monsters. at least, thats the way it's always worked when I've dealt with it :

Both of those are false. Or maybe it's just that you're red colorblind and blue-green colorblind.

Of course, I tried to load my save game to test out the full/partial health and my save game crashes the game. I never noticed before when it worked if I had full health or not. It just always worked every time I tried it before.
