In that case I have my answer. But was that really the intended use? I think the pre-order was just a happy coincidence that whomever wrote the newsletter worked around. Then again, I've been wrong before.

I have made a mistake. What I should have said is Gaslamp supply Steam. Steam is handling the digital distribution. I was caught on the idea of Humble distributing a DRM-Free copy but I have not seen anything about that yet, and a similar Early Access title I have had a version on Humble before it arrived on Steam (and continues to). So I will put my hands up and claim that mistake, but my point still stands. Gaslamp are not distributing this game. That responsibility has been passed to a third-party.

If you didn't have a problem then you wouldn't be asking why pre-purchases opened two days before release date with no discount

It's my job. My job endorsed by Daniel. If I didn't get angry and shouty at people who are being problematic then I would be failing in my duty.

It's called a pre-purchase because you are paying the listed price before the product releases. It doesn't matter what you're pre-purchasing, whether it's tickets, a book, clothing, a game or your grandmother's hat. It's a common business practice - you hand over your money and you get the product on a certain date. It is also common business practice to offer DLC or some out-of-game reward for a pre-purchase (or pre-order), even a discount, but that is not the case here. This is also a common business practice.

This all comes down to choice. You can choose to pre-purchase tonight. You can choose to purchase the Earliest Access once feedback comes in. You can choose to purchase the Early Access at the start, in the middle, or towards the end. You can choose to purchase only once the game hits full release or half-price or when it's a $1 bottom tier in a Humble Bundle. This is about Gaslamp giving people a choice, but it is also about Gaslamp having two days grace to get word out there before the Earliest Access starts.

Hi! Feel free to look through the two relevant posts I made. I added the definition of bother pre-ordering and what a source is for you!

Would you call the supermarket and say "Hey, I'm wiring you two quids, I'll come by for my biscuits in two days!"? No. Because they're going to have biscuits regardless because the demand isn't very high unless they are having some "Buy 1 pack get 99 free" in which case damn you for not planning ahead! You could have had 100 packs of delicious biscuits by friday! Curses!

Also, now I do have a problem. I don't have any biscuits and my local store doesn't allow for pre-ordering 100 packs of biscuits for the price of £2. If you excuse me I'll be off to whine on their forums!

Edit: I cut out some redundant single-paragraph rants.

This statement is so off , just as the "concern" of why it was done. Got me man, you mock people for taking the time too respond and maybe in that response you see frustration yet in turn you do the same thing. There is an old saying... "One who steals has no right to complain if he is robbed"

Exactly. It's a damn troll topic and it's doing no-one any favours except giving this person a podium to make weak, pointless arguments on whilst ignoring the contradictions in their own justifications.

I think everybody has had their answers here and this isn't going into a great place.
