I just figured out how to activate the obeliskians. Their corpses stick around after they blow up. Are they supposed to do that? The allied forces that were stuck in town finally got active and fought the obeliskians when they invaded.

Playing 40B...I'm really not a big fan of the new immigration system. It tends to result in too many middle class. I don't NEED a new overseer every 1-2 days. I do like how lower class immigration is a separate event but I still wind up with too many small work crews just hanging around. Also, overseers aren't satisfied with cots so you have to construct a lot of middle-class beds, which is costly resource-wise. As random as it was, I miss the old system.

Also, I never, ever use prestige to call in temporary workers or specialists. There's rarely an emergency that demands a large work crew, artisan or naturalist. You're better off saving those prestige points and waiting for permanent colonists to arrive. Calling in a regiment of redcoats is the exception, as it could be a life-saver during an invasion.

...Of course, then you'd want to call in the favors IN RESPONSE to said emergency rather than waiting for the pop-up to arrive. I said it once and I'll say it again: once you have the option of calling in a favor that option should REMAIN until a favor is called in. Once this happens there should be a 'cool-down' period before you can call upon another. It should NOT be a daily event with a limited time window. This makes more sense mechanistically and makes prestige points more valuable

I agree that the favor option should remain but at the same time I see a big problem with that.
If it remains most players would have the points (or more) to call in the red coats. I would.
As it is now I see no problem spending the points on what I want instead of saving them for the future.

  4. Other noticed stuff.

    1. wood not being collected when not 'in view' of a colonist. This seems to happen after a dozen or so game days.

    2. some colonists are showing through walls of buildings when laying on floor to sleep.

    3. Corpses of bandits not getting buried after selecting 'decent burial.'

    4. NCO's arriving with no loadout.

    5. Not able to drag portraits in menu.

    6. Too many NCO's with no soldiers - or too many overseer/NCO requests.

    7. Repair to carpenter workbench never getting done as no wood collected.

    8. Game is not saving - it auto saves Ok but no user saves are getting recorded - I think I saw this reported somewhere but not 100% sure it was. This might be a delay in saving or something as the save looks to have turned up in a new unrelated game??? Weird.

maybe only 7 days in but here's my issues:

NCO's morale is still broken. 1 time being shot at or swung at and they are then useless for any kind of threat (day 5)
Where are we supposed to get soldiers?
Cleared an area off the get go to start colony location; once stockpiles went down not one log, mushroom, or lindenberry were moved
Progress bars -- have to zoom in too far to even have them in the game. If it was a single zoom in, that would be alright, but most the time I'm playing from far out zoom. Same with bubbles of thoughts.
Agreed with above - prestige for temporary workers/soldiers is 2 thumbs down; did not use it
I think fishpeople got stuck while I was flattening terrain (day 6)
threw in the towel by day 7

THOUGHT: instead of temp workers... How about doing this --- 2 prestige gets you 2 *specialized* people. 2 farmers, miners, woodcutters, carpenters, something like that and have one of the options be for 2 Soldiers (or 2 deserting soldiers or 2 retired soldiers, something like that) instead of a whole squad. Remove all the rest. THEN:
Add to the pop-up that asks if you want overseer or NCO; Naturalist and Vicar
I think this change would be simpler and would give us more of the opportunity to grow our colony at a more useful way.

  6. Game went into a bug stomp never ending cycle with a mass of bug stomp reports spinning through the report window.

Only thing that stopped it was cancelling all jobs. This stopped the reporting but afterwards only a few colonist were willing to go do anything and something seemed to be using a lot of CPU/card resources as it all went very slow and odd and then crashed.

Had a crash, also some issues whit foreign allied soldiers running in place.
Crash happened after I had left game paused for a while, doing other stuff.

Amount of new overseer events might be a tad high.
But are the amount of pie's right? as making bread gives 2 for one wheat, preserves also gives 2 for 1 raw, griling meat gives 3 for 1 raw meat, should not pie's give more than 1? as it uses 2 ingredients.

*edit* forgot one thing that happened, Had suddenly almost all my people standing around whit job "sleaping inside" for a long time, they only exited that state and went to sleap when my new sawmill got buildt, rigth next to a bunkhouse. */edit*

I had a crash when leaving my game paused for too long also, but it didn't generate a dmp file.

Sorry I forgot to capture my colony start... here is the second session though showing some growth. Overseers are showing up quite fast.

I noticed that soldiers drop their guns to do clear terrain jobs and there doesn't seem to be a filter that can stop them.

Is clear terrain part of the hauling filter?

I don't think clear terrain is part of hauling. At least, I always have my soldiers set to only allow hauling and hunting and to my knowledge I've never seen them clear terrain.
