So without further ado, I'll roll up the next Hero; aptly named Azaz II:

Roll 1: Artful Dodger, Master of Arms, Mathemagic, Psionics, Magic Training, Wand Lore, Big Game Hunter.

Roll 2: Vampirism, Promethean Magic, Ley Walker, Assassination, Big Game Hunter, Clockwork Knight, Tourist.
Roll 3: Daggers, Axes, Shield Bearer, Blood Magic, Emomancy, Communism, Tourist.
Roll 4: Polearms, Staves, Fleshsmithing, Psionics, Emomancy, Killer Vegan, Tourist.
Roll 5: Polearms, Dual Wield, Mathemagic, Assassination, Alchemy, Battle Geology, Magical Law.

Okay, so there's not even any question about it, am I right? It's obviously Roll 1.
Nah, I'll go with 5. It seems quite okay; the Swiss stance, Battle Geology and Magical Law might actually see me survive the first floor. Also, Alchemy.

/concedes this contest. Harvold's score being high enough that it alone divided by 5 will beat my average score unless both of my last two characters defeat Dredmor.

Yeah, that's gonna happen. I haven't seen Dredmor in eight months, primarily due to my constant tomfoolery with the code rendering old saves nonfunctional before I quite get there. :D

It went better, I'll say that much. I shouldn't have pulled that last switch though. Stupid, stupid. Overall the build worked okay, although monster zoos were tedious to clear. Not difficult, just tedious. I had a block chance of around... 52, at level 10. Okay-ish, I'd say.

Azaz the Third coming up next. I definitely won't win this -- but then again, I've not played this game for nearly two years. I'm allowed to not win.

Roll 1: Daggers, Shield Bearer, Necronomiconomics, Astrology, Burglary, Magical Law, Tourist
Roll 2: Staves, Shield Bearer, Assassination, Fungal Arts, Emomancy, Werediggle Curse, Bankster
Roll 3: Axes, Perception, Smithing, Clockwork Knight, Rogue Scientist, Battle Geology, Communism
Roll 4: Shield Bearer, Burglary, Alchemy, Wand Lore, Werediggle Curse, Battle Geology, Magical Law
Roll 5: Swords, Staves, Mathemagic, Viking Magic, Blood Mage, Archaeology, Magical Law

Roll 1 it is! I think it could work, but god knows... I've never been any good at Necronomiconomic builds.

    I suppose I'll try.

Roll 1 - Mr. Indecisive: Polearms, Artful Dodger, Master of Arms, Astrology, Wand Lore, Emomancy, Piracy
(This guy can't decide between a rogue, a warrior, or a wizard.)
Roll 2 - Knight with a Secret: Staves, Berserker Rage, Burglary, Fungal Arts, Werediggle Curse, Clockwork Knight, Egyptian Magic
(A Clockwork knight with some "questionable" hobbies.)
Roll 3 - Twilight Archaeologist: Vampirism, Magic Training, Ley Walker, Archaeology, Tinkering, Emomancy, Werediggle
    (Team Jones FTW!)
Roll 4 - Demon Hunter: Archery, Berserker Rage, Mathemagic, Assassination, Archaeology, Big Game Hunter, Demonologist
(When he isn't hunting demons, he's a boring math teacher at an elementary school.)
Roll 5 - Magic College Student: Mathemagic, Ley Walker, Perception, Burglary, Alchemy, Egyptian Magic, Magical Law
(Math, Chemistry, History, Law, and a little sneakin' around.)

Hmmm... I'm thinking Magic College Student or Demon Hunter. I'll let you know what I choose.

Stole from the 2 vending machines, used Glyph of the Asp, hit a Bumblebee person a few times, ran for my life as I did almost no damage, got through a door and closed it, took a few steps, and as the gravestone says, I died. I lasted less than a minute.

Time for Azaz IV to step up to the challenge!

Roll 1: Daggers, Artful Dodger, Psionics, Astrology, Wand Lore, Emomancy, Piracy
Roll 2: Archery, Shield Bearer, Master of Arms, Fleshsmithing, Necronomiconomics, Astrology, Archaeology
Roll 3: Swords, Daggers, Thrown Weaponry, Shield Bearer, Blood Mage, Tinkering, Paranormal Investigator
Roll 4: Axes, Maces, Staves, Unarmed Combat, Dual Wield, Perception, Big Game Hunter
Roll 5: Axes, Golemancy, Wand Lore, Archaeology, Emomancy, Killer Vegan, Piracy

I think I'll go with roll 5, although roll 4 is sweet in its own way.

Okay, Azaz IV won't get a screenshot. I accidentally the whole Evil Clone thing, not even my mustache golem could save him. Score was 9448. I think it could have worked, but yeah, no way to deal with Evil Clones in Mysterious Dimensions.

    So, last Azaz.
Roll 1: Unarmed Combat, Master of Arms, Viking Magic, Astrology, Perception, Demonologist, Rogue Scientist
Roll 2: Daggers, Maces, Thrown Weaponry, Perception, Alchemy, Killer Vegan, Clockwork Knight
Roll 3: Daggers, Master of Arms, Golemancy, Mathemagic, Blood Mage, Assassination, Fungal Arts
Roll 4: Maces, Shield Bearer, Viking Magic, Magic Training, Smithing, Demonologist, Bankster
Roll 5: Thrown Weaponry, Berserker Rage, Vampire, Necronomiconomics, Wand Lore, Archaeologist, Smithing

Edit: Roll 4 sucked. Giving up now.

If you want to get into doing LPs of DoD GRPD randoms, make a thread. It makes it easier to follow.

Personally I see no point in watching other people play through an entire game; especially not one that can take as much time as DoD can. But I also admit that I'm a somewhat grumpy old man that doesn't like newfangled things too much, and what considers the LP of Boatmurdered to be the pinnacle of LPs.

For those of you who don't know, Boatmurdered is mandatory reading: http://lparchive.org/Dwarf-Fortress-Boatmurdered/Introduction/
