Hello Waz! Nice to see you. The game is pretty awesome. Frelus, DragonDai and I were playing together and strangely only I could trade with each of them. They could never trade with one-another. I do not recall which of us started the game, but we aborted and restarted a half dozen times before I hosted and it suddenly would mostly work. But trading was still hit and miss. Also, to trade a single item, you have to trade the stack. So we found the easiest way was to drop all but one and trade then pick up the rest. I love the game. I understand it is not supposed to be a Nethack clone. However the question of what to wish for is a big one for myself. Can I safely presume there are Bags of Holding and Dragon Scale Mail and other such things in the game?
Regarding wishes, I am going to link in some Nethack spoilers about that. But first, I wanted to note that DragonDai and I were discussing this and I suggested that even if you cannot think of something to wish for, Anything you have seen in the Dungeon or in a shop should be available via a menu for the people who have no idea the syntax to use. DragonDai was unfortunate and wished for several things and ultimately was pretty much cheated out of a wish since he did not know what to wish for. He had seen Crystaline Plate mail though, so that would have been really nice for him. If you are open to suggestions, that is probably the best "solution" I can think of for the time being. http://nh.gmuf.com/wish.html http://www.spod-central.org/~psmith/nh/ And just for laughs: http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/~eva/nethack/wishirl.html *Edit* Note that at the time, I have no idea what of these items are even relevant. Just because it exists in Nethack, that in no way means it does in Wazhack.
Amulets of lifesaving (I just found one in the game we started yesterday, Negro) seem to be quite good for wishes. Wish for a blessed one though, as only this seems to restore you to full (I did not use mine up, but I read up on how they work in Nethack). Scrolls of identification/spellbook of identification (depending on your class/multiplayer) are quite good too. With my huntress I wished for 20 blessed ones and got 3 blessed ones, but as they say, asking can't hurt ^^. You have to use the real plural forms for multiple items (at least I wrote "20 blessed scrolls of Identification" and it worked) for it to work. Always ask for blessed items regardless of item, I would say. I mean, it seems to have an effect on anything that can be blessed/cursed. Just got another idea for wishes: Spellbooks of death/ other spells in this way, Blessed shoes/whatever of speed, blessed trinkets of invisibility. Unchanging could be good, too. (Did not read Omni's link yet, so if anything I mention is in there, sorry).
If I am playing a caster I usually wish first for "Blessed Spellbooks of Identify". Next would be "Blessed Greased Bags of Holding". Then "Blessed Staff". That last one is tricky. It is a chance of being a normal Staff. But it could also be a really good one. From what DragonDai told me, it will usually be excellent. I use the word Staff since I am unsure it would understand staves as the plural of staff. Apparently the wishing system does a pretty good job of giving you something good whenever possible.
Finger of Death does impressive damage. But you have to be in melee range to use it. That is brutal for casters. I prefer Magic Missile or Force Bolt.
Well done! The Romans will pay next time (ignore the cheaters in the HS table - they make their game boring by having all-25 stats, etc. and leave to cheat at something else pretty quickly - and I scrub them from the HS table if the server doesn't already detect them)
Well, are there any life spells apart from magic missile worth casting? Edit: Also, death school has drain life, so I almost always use death. Does anyone know where polymorph is?
Life spells that are good. Extra Healing is excellent. Cure Sickness, Restore Ability, and others as well. That reminds me. I was casting Drain Life (Death Realm) and leveled Life Realm by doing so. I may have been close to leveling it, but I did not know there was cross skill leveling. (It may have been a bug.)
If you check when you want to play, I have been starting a new co-op game several times each day now. All are free to join me anytime. Sadly it is doubtful you are still on. I will check anyway.
Wow. Amazing score DragonDai. You have the highest score ever in the game! (Unless the score resets at some point.)
Yeah, I am working out the kinks in my play, that could have actually been a LOT higher if it wasn't for me being all excited and hoping to the finish line about 3 actions too soon (forgot to empty my bags of their massive quantities of loots, which slightly lowered my score. Waz fixed the issue though, so it won't happen any more). But yeah, that was a good game. I am sure I can do better though. I totally have a new addiction. This is all your fault.
Hey guys, I really like this game too. Any chance y'all are still multiplayeratin'? I think Sorcerers are the best, because they start with all those potions. There's a lot of outs in those potions, and you can trade the lame ones for a wand once you find a shop. Plus, they have those potions IDENTIFIED, which is huge. Knowing what is at your disposal without killing/freezing/acid burning/choking/making trip balls/confusing/blinding your cat, is an important step. And you get tons of spellbooks! You just have to find a shop or a kobold shaman and steal their wands. I think someone asked how you copy scrolls? To paraphrase the late great Biggie Smalls, "Kill ravens, get feathers."
I love sorcerers too! I just never find offensive spell books (played one recently...got down to floor 10 before dying, found about a dozen spell books total, no offensive spells). But yeah, potions identified is amazing. As for multiplayer, I got a lot going on atm, but add me as a friend and look for me in the wazhack IRC channel. If I am in there, I totally want to play multiplayer. I just may not be around much for the next month or two cause Guild Wars 2 is coming out soon.
Yay I win! DragonDai is still on top though. HOW DID YOU DO THAT, DRAGONDAI? I even went and grabbed my working bag, and blimped it over the finish. I have the highest level though.
level 30 is pretty good...Yeah...the big high score I have (along with the almost as big score I have for the opposite sex of the hunter class) were both accomplished before the change where monsters spawn heavily in areas your not in. Before, they only spawned very lightly. This meant less over all treasure, but it meant if you had enough food, you could literally blimp every single piece of crap around with you to really max out your score. Also, the hunter, because of how they play, allows for the taking of the commerce talent line, which really helps up your score. That is a really awesome score though.
