BTW, Steam just downloaded a Civ 5 hotfix, so I guess I'm going to retry the game after all. I took a look at Planetside 2 -- if it were not a shooter, I'd give it a try, because the video of it looked great. The architecture that you get glimpses of in the video strongly reminded me of the bases from Tabula Rasa -- wonder if that's a coincidence or not.
Just finished Hunted: The Demon's Forge. That was... a pretty bad ending. Okay, it was a terrible ending. Okay-ish game, though.
Tried Heroes of Order and Chaos for a few hours today and yesterday. It's a DotA like game on iOS. Novel idea, except the company that is running it (Gameloft) is notorious for making crappy copycat games. The game has been plagued with bad servers for a week now...after getting past that, i realized that the game balance is really out of whack. Plays like DotA 6.12, where even getting one or two hero kills early could be enough to feed someone 2-3 levels ahead of everyone else. And since Gameloft is also known for rarely updating their stuff, i don't expect it to get better. Still playing lots of Dredmor and L4D2...both games which I can't ever seem to get enough of. There's always new and interesting things to learn, more depth and nuance to discover.
Kings Bounty: The Legend. got this one for $1 on the groupees bundle and totally fell in love with it,they dont make these kinds of games anymore, all the sequels are gonna be %100 buys for me when i finish this one and find them 75% off. add some dota2 and killing floor inbetween, those 2 never get old for me =)
But they *do* still make them, that's what I've been saying. It's just had the fourth game in the series, Ubisoft are still making the Heroes/M&M games and I believe Disciples is still going.
X3:TC Because I really love it, still never ever finished the Hub and/or gotten the PHQ and want to legitimately get a blueprint of every ships there is and then create 1 of each with the best spraypaint and because I am in a space mood and use it to fill the void that is waiting for Star Citizen ^^ Oh and the games I bought in the steams ale (see that topic). There's also Eador coming soon.
Because Chains of Satinav performs badly (HOW IT'S AN ADVENTURE GAME) and has a naff translation, I bought Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC. I shall be playing that shortly.
I just played Red Faction Armageddon from beginning to end. It was a decent game, but not something I will replay. It has "New Game Plus" and some neat guns for that mode, but I tried them a few minutes. They are the best guns in the game by far. Too bad I have no desire to retry the game. One of the guns is like the standard assault rifle, but fires homing bullets that do much better damage. The other is "Mr Toots" the rainbow Pony that farts a fricken laser beam that is by far the heaviest weapon in the game. It was good for a quick laugh and now I am uninstalling the game.
Where? I searched everywhere I could think to search, but never found anything like a Pony Fart Gun...
i started playing that the other day after getting it through the THQ bundle. I like it but it feels so linear. It is a bit stifling at times. It might as well be a rail shooter (and there are actually some parts which are a rail shooter).
Picked up Hotline Miami without knowing, well, anything beforehand and at $5 you can't really go wrong. How does a pixelized twin-stick shooter make me feel motion sick when I'm not even prone to motion sickness? What is this I don't even
Got Eador: Genesis few days ago (it just came out: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/eador_genesis) and I must say it's looking to be really deep in terms of what you can do in the world, and I really like the first scenario of the campaign, especially the end and the questions (will make sense if you have played it), although I had a little trouble finishing it as a mage. I could not get more useful spells, and my army was severely limited without possibilities for upgrading. In the end, I just attacked twice, taking enough units down the first time to survive the second time after repleneshing my troops. I like it so far, but the tactical combat was getting a tad repetitive... but that was maybe because I was limited in the first campaign scenario (which is a tutorial, and a nicely done one too). Also looking forward to the successor that should be coming out Q1 next year. EDIT: lolwut successor? I just checked a video again (one I hadn't seen before, them explaining the classes) and now knowing the old game this new game seems to be 100% identical, as far as I can tell. Just better graphics... hah, I may hold off on buying it then... weird.
So I finally started playing Primordia this evening. Did maybe 30-40 minutes of it before getting stuck. But really, I didn't feel as if I needed to look to a walkthrough, it felt really quite logical (or at least simple, e.g. mix things in inventory) for a while. Some pixel-hunting, sadly, and now I appear to be stuck, but I don't mind. It's a lovely sounding game, too.
