Still playing LEGO Lord of the Rings, and quite enjoying it. Will likely start The Return of the King tonight or tomorrow. Also been playing Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed lately. Got onto the last and 'secret' cup of the World Tour, and... yeah. Losing interest now. It's a good karter, but the roster is just stupid. And you have to unlock all but three of the female characters (none of whom have trading cards - 10 cards, all guys), including Danica Patrick (whom I've been playing as lately), not to mention the requirements for some of them are ridiculous. Plus, really, only so many times you can do the same tracks. It has about 21 tracks (42 w/ mirrors) and... it just doesn't feel like enough, and I'm not so sure I actually like the flying/boat parts. Ah well. Oh, also got You Don't Know Jack Vol. 1 XL. That's a fun game.
I've unlocked Engineer, Sniper and Enforcer so far. Really like the Engineer, but how the heck are you supposed to play the Sniper? Any tips? It seems like an awful kiting character.. Pretty hard. Usually I love snipers so I'll try him out in earnest soon
As far as I'm concerned: Good solo characters: Huntress, Acrid? Middle of the road characters: Bandit, Mercenary, Commando Only useful in multiplayer due to heavy specialization: Sniper, Engineer, Enforcer I've soloed the entire game from start to finish twice with the huntress without significant issues. She's easily the best for solo wins IMO.
Thanks! The engineer so far seems to have nice potential for solo. The only thing is he doesn't have is a dodge, so I can see that being trouble nearer the end. Huntress and Acrid I haven't unlocked yet. Nor the Bandit and the Mercenary. Well, going to play some more
Engineer is an very powerful char and more durable than most specialized characters due to his turrets being able to take the heat off, but towards the end he can get focused down in an instant due to his complete lack of evasion. This is also why Enforcer is in the Multiplayer tier. Sniper is there because most of her abilities require her to remain still. In general, the more mobility and evasion a character has, the better a solo character they are.
Been playing more Steam Marines, and even enjoying it. It's extremely unforgiving though. Furthest I've come is 11 floors completed.
Got Far Cry 3 in an Amazon sale(courtesy of indiegamebundles), already had a fake US address from previous sales... (yes you must have a US address to buy a steam code at discount, silly buggers). $14.99, not too bad, retail from steam is €29.99, so it's more than 50% off(about 62%). Quite fun so far, and I wanted a sandbox to play around with anyway.
Played through Gone Home this morning. Very similar to Dear Esther in it's not really a 'game', but more an interactive vague-puzzle thing which tells you a story, but it has that underlying meta-game aspect where it puts in clues to a second or third story/interpretation. Much less metaphysical than Dear Esther, mind, so it's a lot easier to grasp. Oh, and yes, it certainly classifies as an LGBT game. Really tugged on my heart-strings (yes, I am capable of feeling emotions other than anger and hatred) - probably enhanced by the game referring to the player with my name (ha!). Also played the pre-Early Access version of Coin Crypt this weekend (thanks to Lars of Level Up Labs), but after seeing Mooms, Lars and Nabday discuss it on Twitter I realised there was an Early Access version now on Steam so now I have it and I'll be checking it out later. Doubt much will have happened between versions but I could be very, very wrong. Finally, on Friday evening I started and completed Contrast. Very good platformer, not without issues mind, and one I enjoyed.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/264690/ Coin Crypt. Early access and fairly short right now, but BRILLIANt gameplay and imo easily worth 5 bucks.
Turns out I was actually very wrong. It feels a lot deeper than the pre-Early Access one did, and it's actually easier... yet it still has that excellent element of randomness. You might get to, say, floor 3-2 on your second go, but on your third and fourth you might struggle to leave Floor 1-2. It's not perfect, of course - the combat balance really needs to be addressed - but it is ridiculously playable right now, and to be honest it's worth more than the $5. Also, get it from the Humble Widget on the dev's site. Because, you know, they get a better cut.
I love Coin Crypt, but there's not a whole lot to it yet (3-3 is the final level at the moment and there's no boss or anything). But the gameplay is really unique and fun.
holy fupping skit, I'm pretty sure they reset Normal MMR in League of Legends, all I'm getting matched with are 12-year-old idiots insta-locking and calling each other faggots I main support will you just let me try out the new system you god damn asshats
For over a week I have mainly been playing Heroes of a Broken Land. I consider the game as fun as Legend of Grimrock but it has far greater depth. I recommend it to anyone that likes that type of game.
I've been playing a bit of a game this weekend that I can't talk about because it's a close beta and there's an NDA. I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to say which game it is so I'll have to err on the side of caution. Also, I've been working my way slowly through an XCom: Enemy Within campaign. And Talisman: Digital Edition just added online Multiplayer, if anyone is interested. I haven't tried the game multiplayer due to a few frustrating bugs. If I'm going to get frustrated, I'd rather I wasn't while playing against another human being at the time.
